Position Summary The Scientific Director reports directly to the Managing Director.  The person in this position is responsible for building and maintaining a clinical expertise and capability for the organization, supporting the content for our new business proposals, ensuring the quality of the medical content of our deliverables, and helping to ensure company growth and profitability. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:  Strategic Planning
  • Participate in strategic planning discussions and provide opinions/input impacting business decisions
  • Think strategically and recommend ideas that will help increase growth and profitability
 Medical Content Development
  • Be our clinical content expert that customers look to for guidance as it relates to training on medical and marketplace content
  • Maintain high business acumen of the pharmaceutical, biotech, and MD&D industries and serve as a market and content resource to staff and contractors
  • Help cultivate leaders and decision-makers that can serve as SME’s to serve as reviewers or potential workshop panelists
  • For core therapeutic areas, keep the team informed of marketplace trends, new therapies, advancements in diagnosis and patient care, etc.
  • Seek opportunities to present and teach at trade and industry conferences to advance Informa Training Partner’s strategic brand position as a training leader and innovator of pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device training
  • Partner with Managing Editor for writing and document control process improvements
 Leadership and Coaching
  • Identify, recruit, and train talented internal and freelance resources (medical and managed markets) who may fit well into Informa Training Partner’s culture
  • Help coach both internal and freelance writers to ensure quality and profitability
  • Recognize opportunities to resolve challenges and respond appropriately by systematically gathering information, sorting thru the issue, and making a timely decision
  • Maintain positive and open working relationships with clients, freelancers, vendors and strategic business partners to ensure satisfaction/retention
  • Periodically review the quality of draft and final deliverables for specific programs to ensure that client, as well as, internal expectations and standards are being met
New Business Development
  • Serve as a key contributor to Informa Training Partner’s proposal strategy and execution in collaboration with Account Team
  • Provide support in the design and development of solution strategies, from new business qualification to proposals to final deliverables, including:
    • Help sales to qualify new business opportunities and consult with clients to determine a training strategy that meets their business needs
    • Provide strategic insights into the messaging for presentations (live, virtual) and proposals
    • Support the development of curriculum and instructional design strategies for proposed training solutions
    • Review proposal documents/presentations to ensure quality/medical accuracy and that it meets the specific client request
  • Participate and present at new business pitches/presentations as needed
  • Support team effort to expand our business in new target markets
Project Support
  • Provide input and support to teams working on clinical projects at key stages of development, including pre-kickoff, design phase, first draft, and MLR draft; attend kickoff and MLR review meetings as needed; review project deliverables as needed; assess quality of references as needed
  • Help identify and recruit KOLs and SMEs as needed
  • Provide strategic insights/recommendations in increase knowledge transfer and retention (e.g. streamline content, more graphics in modules, different kinds of interactivities and assessments)
  • Take on appropriate writing and development assignments as necessary
Communication
  • Be a good listener and foster open communications between internal and external teams
